Frame echo effect for displaced image ghosts
Frame Echo combines the current image with retained output from earlier rendered frames. The echo offset jumps at intervals, producing stepped ghosting around the source.
Enable Animate and play or seek forward before judging the effect. At composition time zero there are no earlier frames to retain.

Creative applications
- Build stepped ghost images around a bold shape.
- Explore repeating image fragments for experimental cover artwork.
Starting workflow
- Open Frame Echo on a high-contrast image, enable Animate, and run playback to build frame history.
- Adjust Echo interval to hold each offset longer or change it more frequently.
- Balance Echo displacement, Strength, and Decay to keep the current subject visible.
- Pause or seek to inspect a composition; export reconstructs the history at the selected time.
Key controls
- Echo interval
Lengthen the interval to hold each echo position longer before its next jump.
Default: 0.12s · Range: 0.02s to 1s
- Mix
Blend the Frame Echo result with its input after the main treatment is established.
Default: 100% · Range: 0% to 100%
Practical tips
- Compare several intervals before judging the result.
- For an immediate trail that also works without playback history, try Feedback Smear.
- For a reproducible comparison, seek each version to the same composition time.
Limitations
- At composition time zero there is no accumulated history. Seeking and re-enabling Animate reconstruct the earlier composition frames.
- Turning Animate off clears the accumulated history while continuing to process the current input.
