Scanline jitter effect for image distortion
Line Jitter offsets narrow horizontal lines with seeded randomness. The changing line positions suggest unstable signal timing without requiring a video input.
Vertical edges expose the row offsets; an almost uniform image provides little structure to disturb. Playback refreshes the pattern even without a video source.

Creative applications
- Add fine timing disturbances to a digital poster.
- Roughen a photographic silhouette with horizontal line movement.
Starting workflow
- Open Line Jitter on an image with clear vertical edges.
- Set Line height for fine interference or wider strips, then adjust Jitter amount.
- Lower Coverage to retain stable portions of the subject.
- Run motion to see the line pattern refresh; compare the paused result before exporting.
Key controls
- Line height
Set line height to choose between fine scanline jitter and broader interruptions.
Default: 0.006 · Range: 0.001 to 0.02
- Mix
Blend the Line Jitter result with its input after the main treatment is established.
Default: 100% · Range: 0% to 100%
Practical tips
- Keep line displacement subtle around faces and small type.
- Use Slice Shift when you want a fixed band arrangement instead of a pattern that refreshes with motion.
- Keep playback paused at the same time while comparing Line height and Jitter amount, then run it to evaluate the changing pattern.
Limitations
- This offsets image rows; it does not add a CRT phosphor mask or simulate a complete display.
